You know you're a geek when . . .

So I know some of you out there have had these moments, and I'm almost too embarrassed to talk about the ones I've had. Of course, this is the geekyest way to relate my geekiness.

The first moment I can recall is similar to the latest episode of "Brain fried because of programming". This memory of my geekiness came about because I was editing a video and using After Effects for far too many hours. I needed unlimited "undo"s in my project and I kept hitting CTRL+Z to undo. A few days after the 12 hour editing session, I recall thinking to myself "undo" for a real life stituation and I almost made a the finger motions to hit CTRL+Z while I was standing on the street.

These things happen when you're manipulating a false world with real actions. Your brain can't distinguish between walking down the street and "undo"ing graphic mistakes on a project, right?

Anyway, the latest episode of my geekiness came about only minutes ago. I was lying in bed thinking about climbing this weekend. I'm heading to Foster Falls, TN. I haven't been climbing outside in a while, so I was thinking about the climbs I want to do. Then I started thinking about this hot girl that climbs at the gym. I started to think if she would climb with me, of course she would be climbing more difficult routes because she's badass. Then I thought, "maybe I could try and top rope the climbs that she leads", 5.11s or so. Anyway, at this point my brain farted. I started to think that I might fall because of a syntax error in my Javascript. For anyone that codes, syntax errors hurt - because it's a stupid mistake in writing the language. Anyway, in my half dream state, I realized I was a geek because I put climbing and javascript in the same thought. I think it's time to stop coding.

About me

  • I'm todd
  • From Atlanta, Georgia, United States
  • I work in a cube, dreaming of the outside world all day. There are no windows near me, only virtual images displayed in front of me. I try to be creative from time to time, but it's hard to minic the world when you don't remember what it looks like. This is why I travel and take in new sights and sounds and people, when it's posible. Stimulation is better than simulation. I also ramble aimlessly on about absolutely nothing.
